Mephra Fantasia Flatware

Sunday, July 3rd, 2011

Someone, who shall remain nameless, lost several of the teaspoons from our 60′s Japanese flatware service for eight.  Making coffee to-go, I suspect.  I can’t replace the vintage pieces.  Even my go-to site, Replacements is fresh out.  I searched for a new set that I’ll stash for use when company comes.  Something with a 60′s vibe that will go nicely with out Heath Ceramics tableware. Something that’s still in production so I can get more teaspoons.  I came across this Fantasia flatware from the Italian company Mephra. If you are in to Heath, Russell Wright or Fiesta table settings–Fantasia is for you!  Look at the rainbow of color options.  I counted 38 all together.  Going for an earthy look,  so I’ve settled on the dark cherry wood as my pic.  Check out Home Chic for yours.

The Great Pumpkin

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

I spied a set of  vintage 60′s Heath Ceramics coupe plates (top right corner) in a pretty orange and tan glaze the company used to call Pumpkin.  It looks yummy, like a  sweet potato pie that’s  just out of the oven–all glossy and nicely browned around the edges.  This set’s on ebay through Laguana Pottery of Seattle.  Since there’s not a lot of the Heath Pumpkin color combo floating around I thought I’d play around with some mix-and-match table settings to compliment my find.

Above, the Pumpkin dinner plates are paired with (clockwise from top left)  Avacado/Olive deep bowls; Peridot/Linen cereal and dessert bowls; Persimmon/French Grey shallow salad bowl; French Grey pasta bowl; and linen salad plates.  Below the plates are paired with (clockwise from top left Turquoise/Aqua deep bowls; Linen cereal bowls; Aqua casseroles; Persimmon/French Grey shallow salad bowl; and Linen salad plates.
